Reward Distribution: PEEL BACK THE BARK Novella

Hello Accursed Players,
I know I just sent out the monthly update yesterday, but I'm already back! Yesterday I mentioned that our first novella reward was really close to being ready, and I meant it! Because here it is!
Remember this Stretch Goal from the campaign?
We actually unlocked TWO novellas telling us more about life in the Curseborne world. And now it's time for the first to be delivered!
Reward Delivery: PEEL BACK THE BARK (Curseborne Novella #1)
Izzy Plummer's got enough to deal with: her mother's sick, her new classmates are making it clear she's not wanted in town, and she's still figuring out how to get her curse under control. On top of that, something ancient and terrifying stalks te forest of Alder Valley, and the very people who should put a stop to it are in on the evil.
AND NOW IT'S GOT ITS EYE ON IZZY.
REWARD DISTRIBUTION
If the Curseborne Fiction stretch goal reward was on your list of rewards, your link to claim your Peel Back the Bark BackerPDF will be sent out by our BackerKit pledge manager over the next day. Since we are using our partners at DriveThruRPG as the host for this, you will need to set up a DriveThru account if you don't have one already. If you encounter any problems with downloading your rewards, please contact DTRPG's customer service to resolve the matter, they've always been top-rated for customer service. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/contact_us.php
The best way to ensure these redemption codes work smoothly is to log in to your DTRPG account first, and then click (or copy) the link shown in your BackerKit. You may have to click the link twice to get it to show up in your cart.
Again, you will receive an e-mail from BackerKit with links for this reward over the next 24 hours if it is on your expected list of rewards.
The easiest way to see if you've got digital downloads available is to login to your backerkit account: https://cursebornerpg.backerkit.com/ and it'll show anything available. Your backerkit account should also confirm all rewards that you should expect from your reward tier selected.
BACKER PDF VERSION
This is the first version of Peel Back the Bark to be released. The design and development teams have done their best to proofread and correct any errors and typos - but some always sneak through. If you catch any typos, incorrect math, visual glitches, and the like, we want to hear about them and correct them before the book gets finalized and released in final ebook formats.
With that in mind, I'd like to introduce the Peel Back the Bark Feedback Form!
Onyx Path will be launching a special Curseborne Novella: Peel Back the Bark Feedback Form, which you will be able to access here: <Peel Back the Bark Feedback Form>
They are aware of any Page XX notations - those are left in to replace for the final version once any changes you've suggested are made, so they can reference the correct page if any shifts in layout result.
Onyx Path will keep errata collection open for the next week. Please submit your feedback as soon as possible so the team can get on to finalizing this file - and working on our print version as well!
They won't be collecting errata from other spots, just this specific form.
After any needed corrections are made (based on your feedback!), they will prepare an updated final version of the book and you will receive a notice from DrivethruRPG that you can re-download your file with the latest version.
You've already made the book a reality with your Kickstarter support. Now you can make it even better by helping us crowdsource any minor errors and corrections.
SO: Look for your reward email over the next 24 hours, or check your BackerKit page to see your digital reward redemption links. Review the backer PDF and submit any feedback you have, and let's make this book as awesome as possible!
If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://cursebornerpg.backerkit.com/
Next month I'll update our pending and delivered list!

June 2026 Update

– Thu, Jun 25, 2026 at 07:59:30 AM
Hello Accursed Players,
Quick summary:
The "planning and organizing" Phase I part of Art Direction is done, and now the Phase II "artists are working on sketches for review" can begin. The artists will submit sketches for review and tweak as needed before moving on to finals. Once the artwork is in, the project will move to layout. Still a lot of work ahead, but making progress! I'll share preview peeks of any artwork that manages to sneak out.
We've got one reward that's just finishing up in proofing and will probably be ready within the next week or two - the first of our two Fiction Stretch Goals, Peel Back the Bark, a novella featuring Izzy. Our second novella is now in final drafts. I don't know anything about it, but will share as we find out more.
Our adventure scenario jumpstart - called Blood on the Dancefloor - has a manuscript that's currently being reviewed and hopefully approved soon to move into the next stage of development and editing.

– Thu, May 28, 2026 at 10:18:51 AM
Hello Accursed!
From the top, a quick summary of our projects:
The Curseborne Player's Guide is finishing up the first stage of Art Direction - the "Direction" part. Soon, all of the artists will be contracted and the "Art" part can begin. Still a ways to go, but (slowly I turned) step by step, inch by inch we'll get there.
The novella featuring Izzy is in the final stages of layout and should go to proofing soon.
Blood on the Dancefloor - the adventure we unlocked - has moved through final drafts and is now in development
I'll update our tracking progress character sheet below.
The Wolf You Feed Pre-Order
Last month I talked about the first Curseborne jumpstart, which had a rapid-fire crowdfunding blitz. If you missed it and are interested in pre-ordering the 80-page softcover and PDF, you can at the <Wolf You Feed Pre-Order Page>. If you're keeping digital and not interested in the softcover book, it's in the process of getting finalized and should be available for purchase before too long on DTRPG.

April 2026 Monthly Update
– Tue, Apr 21, 2026 at 07:05:09 AM
Hello Accursed,
Before I get to today's project check in, I want to tell you about the latest Curseborne project that'll get crowdfunded starting today.
Onyx Path is running a two week crowdfunding campaign to get the Curseborne Jumpstart into print and into game stores shortly after the corebook delivers later this year. This is an opportunity for backers to get it before stores, or to get the PDF version very, very soon. We're hoping to have the PDF out to backers by the end of June.
The lightning-fast crowdfunder for physical versions of the Curseborne Jumpstart starts tomorrow! It’s bigger than our usual jumpstarts, giving you everything you need to play a slice of Curseborne with The Wolf You Feed, an introductory adventure which follows an investigation into the disappearance of Rosa Rivers (which can also be used for Curseborne if you have the full rulebook). Also, if you loved the five iconic characters from the Curseborne Ashcan, the jumpstart will have updated and expanded versions of those characters in beautiful spreads with all the information players need.
No major changes since last month. The corebook and dice are having the manufacturing timelines sorted out. There's a supplement that was part of the corebook campaign that is finishing up with artists, and once those pieces are done those artists will be working on pieces for our Player's Guide, so we're in the art queue! I'll continue to monitor and share any artwork as it appears.

You can find the weekly Monday Meeting blog updates <here>, which note any projects with status changes since the previous Month End summary. The project statuses listed are current as of last Monday, so do check it out each Monday night to see if anything may have progressed!
I will continue to post regular updates every month until the final reward has gone out.

March 2026 Monthly Update
– Wed, Mar 25, 2026 at 06:26:25 AM
Hello Accursed,
Quick summary: Work continues on our main reward, possible incremental movement on our Stretch Goals.
Pending Projects
While the Curseborne corebook and dice set are having the manufacturing sorted out, our Player's Guide is finishing up in the development stages. I believe they're already starting work on the interior illustrations but I'll update that in next month's post.
Peel Back the Bark is Curseborne fiction for this project, and now in the editing phase. In addition, there's an adventure in the works called Blood on the Dancefloor that I believe is attached to our Player's Guide stretch goal. I'm including it with that assumption, and it's now in redlines before working to a final draft. More information and clarity when Onyx Path shares.
